Stars to Sunrise!

A 3 AM start and wet, foggy conditions didn't dampen the enthusiasm of Eden Valley Hospice supporters as they enjoyed their "Stars to Sunrise" climb of Helvellyn!

As part of Lakeland Mountain Guides, we assisted a group of over 60 people in reaching the summit of Helvellyn via two distinct routes: Grisedale with a scramble on Swirral Edge, and Keppel Cove, which included Whiteside and Lower Man.

While the summit photo doesn't show it, we did have a few brief moments when the clouds cleared, revealing some stars just after 5am, and later a stunning red sky just before sunrise. However, we mostly faced low visibility, wind, and rain!

None of that dampened the group's spirits—everyone successfully reached the summit and returned to the school in Glenridding for buckets of tea and bacon butties!

What's not to love about having conquered the mountain while everyone else is still asleep, all while raising money for an incredible cause!
