In September 2022, I joined a group of colleagues taking on the challenge of climbing the highest peak in England in memory of friend and colleague Tom Clarke and to support of the Tom Clarke Foundation...

The route was straight up and down from Wasdale carpark at the head of Wast Water, the best known and most accessible route. The photo shows lovely weather starting out, but deteriorated as expected as the climb steepens turning South from Lingmoor Col. Nonetheless, the group was well prepared and highly motivated and pushed on to the summit before quickly descending back down the mountain.

This was part 2 of a 3-part challenge for the group. Snowdonia last year, Scafell Pike this year, and the big one, Ben Nevis coming soon!

There are loads of great routes up Scafell Pike - with options of varying difficulties, and features including scrambles, mountain tarns and deep gorges. If you'd like help planning and completing your trip up the highest mountain in England, please get in touch!
